President Ross, on behalf of the Club, recognised the community efforts of Don Leckenby with the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellowship. Don is the founder, team leader and driving force behind St. Pauls Mackay “Street ministry”. He is also a Director of “Mackay Drop-in Centre” Inc. which cares for the homeless of Mackay.

Retired to voluntary work, principally through St Pauls Uniting church Mackay since 2001. Don’s main interest other than elder and treasurer of the congregation is reducing homelessness in Mackay through the Homeless Ministry initiated in 2007.

Don’s working life commenced in 1953 as an apprentice electrician with Australian Estates later to become CSR .Then moved to Utah Development Company in 1979 later to become BHP. He left BHP in 1998 to establish his own consultancy in Electrical Draughting as well as teaching at Mackay TAFE in the subject of Laboratory Practices measurement and data collecting until retirement in 2001.
