Since our beginnings in 1959, the Mackay West Rotary Club has carried out fundraising events and volunteer services throughout the community.
Some of these include –
The Sausage Sizzle is about as Australian as it gets, becoming well known in many communities throughout the country, the charity events took off in popularity during the 1980’s. Mackay West Rotary organise and run Sausage Sizzles throughout the community, thanks to local businesses and government support. The events organised by Mackay West Rotary aim to provide more funds for the organisation, allowing us to give back to the community we love so much.

The BMA Mackay Marina Run is one of the annual events that Mackay West Rotary is supporting through volunteer work during the event.
Volunteering at the Mackay Marina Run over the last 3 years has been a rewarding experience. Both in joining with the wonderful hard working and enthusiastic organisers to support this event and by cheering on the participants of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Everyone showing great spirit and dedication to giving their all on the day.
It is also exciting to note that funds raised during this event are donated to a very worthwhile cause in the Leukaemia Foundation. This organisation is dedicated to supporting people diagnosed with a blood cancer and their families during treatment and recovery whether with accommodation when away from home or assisting with practical, financial or emotion concerns. The foundation is also committed to continuing to fund research and new trials and hope to eventually assist in the discovery of a cure for all blood cancers.
We would encourage everyone to support this wonderful organisation by joining our great bunch of volunteers. A few hours to enjoy a great day to share the load. You won’t regret it.
This is annual event supported by Mackay West Rotary. The Fair supports and is integral to the projects of Australian Rotary Health (ARH) which is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research within Australia.
ARH also provide funding into a broad range of general health areas, provide scholarships for rural medical and nursing students, as well as Indigenous health students. Australian Rotary Health provides funding into areas of health that do not readily attract funding and promotes findings to the community.
ARH is a project of the Rotary Districts of Australia and is supported by Rotary Clubs.
The Mackay Swap Meet is an annual event spearheaded by Mackay West Rotary, which started in 2016 with the goal of raising funds to support chosen charities and local communities. This event is scheduled annually on the Sunday before the Queen’s birthday at Mackay Showgrounds.

The Rotary Christmas Fair is another annual affair of Mackay West Rotary, which helps generate funds for charities and local communities. Scheduled every last Friday and Saturday of the month of October at Col Story Rotary Park, this is the first fair of the Christmas season. Attraction includes, Ham Wheel, Meat Tray Wheel, Cent Sale, Pick of the Shelf, Bottle stall, Lucky Dip, Cake, Sweets stall and lots more.
